It looks like Bulkhead Interactive’s CEO heard right when it comes to Star Wars Battlefront 3.
Yesterday, the studio chief behind the first-person hit Wardogs mentioned casually that he heard DICE and Respawn Entertainment were working together to develop the next entry in the Star Wars Battlefront franchise.

EA Confirms DICE and Respawn Are Working Together
Today, publisher Electronic Arts announced a new restructuring, which resulted in layoffs of around 400 people or about 3% of its total global workforce.
Per Variety, a memo was sent to EA employees today, which outlined the updates to the studio’s operations as it’s now a private company after being acquired by the PIF of Saudi Arabia in August this year.
Aside from the layoffs, the memo also mentioned that Cam Weber, president and chief studios officer, and David Tinson, president and COO said, said “we’ll be bringing together our Respawn and DICE studios to collaborate on a future project.” While this project wasn’t named, “multiple sources” confirmed to Variety that this is indeed Star Wars Battlefront 3!
RELATED Lucasfilm Is "Exploring" Star Wars Games That Will "Surprise" Fans While we've had Souls-like Star Wars games in Respawn's Jedi series, a strategy one courtesy of Bit Reactor in Star Wars: Zero Company, and even a new entry in the arcade racer genre in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, it seems we might be getting something fresh at some point in the future.Check out choice excerpts from the memo sent to EA employees:
Across our portfolio, we’re making deliberate choices to align talent and investments where we see the greatest opportunities for players and long-term growth.
In our Shooters business, Battlefield 6 was a great success, and we learned a lot from the launch and the live service. We’re going to take those learnings, balance our resources, and leverage the technology to deliver a shooter portfolio that unlocks growth. In addition to our future Battlefield titles, we’ll be bringing together our Respawn and DICE studios to collaborate on a future project that will help us achieve that ambition. We can’t wait to share more when the time comes. We’re also continuing to invest heavily in Apex over the next few years by introducing brand new gameplay modes in multiplayer, and other new experiences, to expand the universe.
Action-adventure is one of the most competitive and high-stakes genres in the industry, where every game needs our full weight behind it. We’re continuing to deliver on our two huge launches coming up with Marvel’s Iron Man and the next Star Wars Jedi game. Beyond that, we will concentrate our efforts on fewer simultaneous, large-scale projects, ensuring that every game we build in this space is fully set up for success.
The memo also mentioned the closure of BioWare and development stoppage of the new Mass Effect game, with a comment from the execs stating, “BioWare is a legendary studio that helped define the role-playing genre, and we do not take this decision lightly.”
While nothing has been announced officially by EA just yet, DICE and Respawn collaborating on Star Wars Battlefront 3 makes a ton of sense. I wouldn’t be surprised if DICE was tasked to develop multiplayer, while Respawn tackled the single-player portion.
It looks like it’s early in development, so don’t expect anything tangible from it anytime soon.
Another tiny bit of good news in the memo is something that was announced officially yesterday, and that’s a new entry in the Fight Night boxing series is in development.
