The name Metroid Ravenous popped up on a Brazilian ratings board back in July before being quickly yanked, and that brief listing of course got tongues wagging over the thought that a new Metroid game had been leaked. Well, as it so happens Metroid Ravenous was indeed leaked and it is a real game, one that is set to hit Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027. Here’s your first look at the game:
There isn’t much known about the story other than the tagline of “eat or be eaten,” suggesting, along with some of the footage, that Samus might be taking on some of the energy consuming abilities of her enemies, the parasitic Metroids. Metroid Ravenous is the latest 2D adventure for Samus, with Metroid Dread having been the last time our heroine took on the second dimension. Although it isn’t confirmed that MercurySteam is working on Ravenous, the Dread developer’s fingerprints seem to be all over this one. We’ll update once we learn for sure who’s making the game.
Beyond that, Samus can be seen doing all sorts of crazy things like teleporting, running across water, and more. There will be a Special Edition of the game available for purchase, which you can see right below:
- Full game
- SteelBook
- Samus Metroid Suit amiibo
More on the amiibos in another article, but for now we’ll say it looks like the Metroid Suit amiibo might only be available as part of the Special Edition. We’ll let you all know if that’s the case as soon as possible. What do you think of Metroid Ravenous so far? Is it what you’re looking for in a Metroid game or do you prefer Samus’s first-person adventures? Share with us below and online!
